World Book Day

Save the Date - World Book Day 2020 is 20th March

World Book Day Dress-Up 2019

Winnall Primary School took part in World Book Day on Friday 8th March 2019.  Children were invited to dress up as their favourite book characters.  All children enjoyed taking part in some house team activities during the day.

Amongst the many characters from Harry Potter, and multiple princesses across the year groups, we also had Fantastic Mr Fox, Little Red Riding Hood, Matilda, Where's Wally, Horrid Henry, Gangsta Granny, Mildred Hubble and the Cat in the Hat, amongst many others.  Staff also enjoyed dressing up as much as the children.  We hope you enjoy browsing the photographs below and we can happily add photographs that you may have taken at home of your children dressed up if you would like to email them to us (email address can be found in the 'Contact Us' section)

We hope your children will enjoy some of their favourite stories at home in the coming days and some may even follow up World Book day with a visit to the local library.

Finally, we will be accepting orders for Usborne Books up until Tuesday 12th March.  Please bring in your child's with list with the book(s) from it that they would like to order, along with their £1 book voucher and the correct cash.  The office will happily take these for you.  This is completely optional.  Winnall Primary will get a percentage of free books depending on the amount of sales.

World Book Day Dress-Up 2018

We dressed up as characters from our favourite books for World Book Day 2018.

We also had a four children who were awarded certificates as the winners and runners-up for the 500 word story writing competition.  Well done to Lola who was the winner in the year 3/4 category and Abi who was runner up, and to Layla, winner of the year 5/6 category and Charlie B who was the runner up.

After postponing our World Book day dress up because of the snow, we re-scheduled for Monday 5th March.  The Hampshire Chronicle posted a fantastic article to their website which can be accessed via the link below:

Book Week 2018 - Snuggle Up With A Book
To kick off Winnall's book week, on Monday 26th February, all children were invited to wear pyjamas to school and we welcomed parents to join us at 3pm to snuggle up in the hall and share a story and a hot chocolate with their children.  It was an extremely popular event enjoyed by parents and children.
