Boomtown will be back at Winnall Primary during the summer term of 2019.  The opening ceremony for the Boom Town Festival in The Lion's Den will be on Friday 9th August 2019.  Children from Winnall Primary School are once again lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take part in this opening ceremony.

 

Workshops:

Just like 2018, there will be workshops held at school within the normal school day, along with some after school rehearsals.  These workshops are planned to be held during the normal school day of Thursday 13th June and Friday 14th June 2019.

 

Parents/carers are invited to come in for any further information required when Mia Harris is around after school 3.30-4pm on Thursday 13th June.  Please come with any queries and concerns.   

 

These workshops will focus on environmental themes and looking after the planet.  The festival is inviting Years 4, 5 & 6 to come and create for two days of dance and movement, radio & film workshops in school. There is also an exciting opportunity to learn a dance and movement in costumes and perform it on one of Boomtown’s biggest stages, The Lion’s Den, as part of the Opening Show on Friday 9th August.

 

Afterschool Sessions:

Further sessions to rehearse dance, movement and acrobatics.  These are strictly limited to 60 spaces per session.

  • Thursday 20th June - Dance & Movement  - After School 3:30-5:15pm

  • Thursday 4th July - Dance & Movement - After School 3:30-5:15pm

  • Thursday 11th July - Dance & Movement  - After School 3:30-5:15pm

 

Please note: letters have been sent home with all this information but spares can be obtained from the office.

Carnival  Workshops

We would love to invite you to be part of the Boomtown Carnival Arts Workshops at the Winchester Discovery Centre on Saturday 27th July

Details:

Boomtown Festival is bringing Carnival Arts workshops to Winchester Discovery Centre on Saturday 27th July.  They will focus on environmental themes and looking after the planet. The festival is inviting families to come and create for one day of dance & movement, radio & film workshops in school. There will also be an exciting opportunity to learn a dance and movement in costumes, which they will then be able to perform in the carnival at Boomtown on Sunday 11th August.

 

Workshops:

DANCE:  Carnival dance

RADIO: Radio Platfform from Wales Millenium Centre will be bringing a fully working radio station with musicians to produce and record your own tunes and radio show

BANNER MAKING: Have your voices heard. Explore words and ideas and how to look after the planet and everything on it. Make a banner to express your ideas. (#KidsInCharge) With Mahogany Carnival Arts

 

Further details:

* Workshops run from 10am - 4pm.

* All workshops are divided into 3 age groups: 5 - 8 years /  9 - 11 years / 12 - 18 years.

* All participants (and one parent/guardian) are invited to take part in the Sunday Carnival parade at Boomtown Fair (Winchester) on Sunday 11th August. Boomtown Free Sunday ticket.

Boom Town 2018

The children in Year 4, 5 and 6 that have signed up to be part of the show are able to catch a special bus from school to Boomtown and back again.  The bus will leave outside of the school gates at 7am promptly.

Workshops at School - 9th & 10th July

 

The children in Green, Indigo and Silver class of Winnall Primary have been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take part in the opening of the Boomtown Fair this summer.  This is on one of Boomtown’s biggest stages;The Lion’s Den, as part of the opening show on Friday 10th August.

 

On Monday 9th & Tuesday 10th July 2018, all children from these classes were able to take part in a carnival arts workshop.   This was two days of music and dance workshops; learning  songs and dances.  Several  of these children have then signed up to take part in the opening show at Boomtown.
